Oh Sarah. Honestly, sweety, you need to go away. And please stop talking about "Climategate". Aside from the fact that is such a stupid name for a non-gate, the idea of someone with the IQ of my kitten talking about it is absurd.
Honey, I'm not a scientist, but I am a thinking human. My brain works a whole 90% of the time (the other 10% of the time it is dazzled by shiny things and David Tennet). I'm not sure you're hits the 50% mark on a regular basis. I have come to this conclusion because I have read what you have said about "Climategate" and then read the emails. Then read about scientific testing because, you know, if I'm going to judge I should know what I'm talking about. And came to the conclusion that this really is a non-deal. You know, not like you. I can't decide if you really believe the insane things you state, or if you're just parroting things, but either way you do need to go home and leave the heavy lifting to people who actually can lift. Or in this case think.
This is hardly the biggest thing that has bugged me about Palin recently, but it is a symptom of the big picture. She feels that she is somehow not only qualified to make comments on things way above her pay grade, but she also seems to feel that she should. That people expect her to. Now don't get me wrong, I expect her to, because she is an idiot and she's really funny when she talks. But I also don't want her convincing people to believe the insane things she believes in.
The best thing that could happen for us would be if the Tea Party Party forms and runs her in 2012 (or 2010, whatever). People would get a long term view of how stump dumb she is and split the GOP, and Bob's your Uncle, Dems win it. Yay!!
I know, it won't be quite that easy, but you get where I'm going. She will be polarizing, and we could make out on top if that happens.

On the up side, she didn't start a war
However Sarah Palin didn't inspire people either in her big hush-hush speech in Hong Kong. Still, it doesn't look like any of the people there were offended, but apathetic. Things could have been worse.
She doesn't even know what that means
I read yesterday that Ms. Palin will be going to Hong Kong to speak to a group of 1000 investment bankers and fund managers.
Wait, what?
Are they going to just not translate her? Or are they hoping things will get lost in translation? Is it a joke?
The woman can not seriously understand anything about banking. And they mentioned that Palin is of interest to the internation community. Yeah, as a bloody joke. No one but us idiots here in the good old US of A took her seriously, and that's because we apparently started to prize insanity over education at some point.

Profile pieces can be great...
If you have not had the pleasure of reading the Vanity Fair piece on Palin, you can find it here. It is a tad outdated, but well worth the read.
One of the reasons why I keep writing about her is that I find her fascinating and terrible all at once, and I think this piece shows that off. She really is a captivating figure, even if she may be completely evil and sociopathic.

Oh, right, they go with the flow
The full text of Palin's resignation speech can be found here at Talking Points Memo.
Dead fish do what?
When I heard my beloved Evita Palin quit I almost came back online to blog about it, despite my promise to myself to stay offline. So instead I called my brother, told him, and we both had a good laugh about it.
We mainly laughed about how wildly incoherent that speech was. Did you listen to it? Any of it? It was like a stream of consciousness essay written by a high school freshman. Not only did she do something completely stupid, but she did it in the worst possible way. I keep wondering if she has had some kind of breakdown up there in Alaska. That is why she keeps believing that the media is attacking her family, not that she keeps dragging her family into the spotlight. Maybe she does need a rest, because she is starting to lose what little grip on reality she had.
And why quit? From a political perspective it was suicide. The only people who will follow her now are the devoted 21% wing nut crowd, everyone else is now convinced she actually is the nutcase we all thought she might be. There is a small chance that she realized that she isn't just bad at being a governor and politician, but she is absolutely terrible at it and quit because of that. But I doubt it.
What ever the reason the fact remains that it was a stupid move on her part. And I applaud her because it means that we get to keep seeing her being weird an incoherent and not have to worry about the people of Alaska being screwed over.

Shut up Evita
I'm mystified that people are still upset over the Letterman thing. Can they move on? Jesus Evita, just your damn supporters up. You know, all 15 of them.
And now they want Letterman fired. Over a few tasteless jokes. But they are OK with the Gorilla/Michelle Obama joke.
Asshats.

Hey Evita
Ms Palin, have you had a bit of a nip/tuck? Because I saw you this morning and honey, no one's eyebrows are that high up naturally.
Also, let the freaking Letterman thing go. Were his jokes in bad taste? Yes, of course. Was he talking about Willow? No. Don't be daft. No one thought he was but you. Everyone knew he meant Bristol. Now he'll pay for saying some tasteless things, but he's a comedian and they are paid to do that kind of thing. No one is keeping it in the news but you Miss Freaky Eyebrows.
Oh, and freaking good luck with that pipeline. I mean it, you're going to need it. I've read about the logistics of the thing, and it sounds like a nightmare.

Evita Palin (stolen from Crooks and Liars, of course)
I have to say, I have been enjoying this whole little high school drama between Palin and the GOP Fundraising Dinner. And Palin stealing Newt's speech (seriously, word for word. The sheer balls of that act! Wow!)
Apparently the self-styled Evita is getting on the nerves of the GOP as much as she gets on the nerves of the rest of us. As it is becoming more and more apparent to the GOP leadership that Palin is serious about a run for the presidency in 2012, they are becoming more and more uncomfortable with the idea of this woman being the voice of their party. When Newt is the lesser of two evils, you know that other choice was pretty freaking bad.
The Hill has an interesting piece on just how much the GOP seems to be regretting bringing Palin into the spotlight. While part of the GOP base wants her to run it looks like they have written her off. She just doesn't have the money and her PAC has stalled.
I can't decide if I would like to see her run or not. Obviously, I would have a LOT more to talk about if she did. The woman is a trainwreck. And Obama would win handily if they ran her. He'd have to kill and eat a puppy on camera to lose. On the other hand, she does pander to the lowest scum in the GOP, and if we get them going again god only know what they will do next.

Friday Randomness
They found the remains of a body near the home of Stacy Peterson. Of course Stacy is the missing wife of Drew Peterson, the man who has run through 4 wives to date, two missing, one dead of suspicious causes. He has been charges with the death of that one. There is a chance that this body is Stacy, and if it is I hope they charge him with her murder too. Man is freaky.
I'm going to finally get to see Star Trek this weekend. All I keep hearing is how awesome it is, and damn it I want to see it! While I don't like Star Trek the way other people do (I'm a Star Wars geek, thank you) I do find it entertaining and I like J.J. Abrams as a director.
Sarah Palin has picked a co-author for her upcoming book. Lynn Vincent has written a number of ultra-conservative books, so this ought to be an awesome book! I really hope that Palin has some kind of hand in writing this, because if she does it will be the bestest book evar!!11!!
A quick hello to all my lurkers! I have changed my comments to allow all posters, so if you want to comment on something, or point out where I screwed up, and don't want to sign into blogger, feel free. Comments will be moderated now, however. As long as you don't get out of hand I'll publish pretty much anything.

Yeah, I'm a geek
I've added to my blog roll again, and if you direct your attention over there Wil Wheaton's blog has now joined it's ranks. I had such a crush on him when I was younger. Heck, I kind of still do. Got to love a guy with a brain.
I heard this morning that Sarah Palin is meeting with some Scientologist. I cannot stress how strongly I agree with this new course of action. Please Sarah! Join Scientology! That would be a choice made of win!

She back! Yay!!
I love Sarah Palin! Because when I'm starting to feel really crappy I read something that she's done and can say, "Hey! At least I'm not that dumb!"
Like this, for instance. Really sweetie? You keep trotting out the whole "blame the media" thing and it keeps dying. No one really believes that the media was what killed your hopes of vice presidency. Sweetie, it was all you.
But I love you anyway, because you and your gosh-darn red neck ways make me feel so much better about myself.

Friday Randomness
It's Friday Randomness time!
First up is poor Bristol Palin, who is in the news because she got dumped. Call it what you will, but the guy spazzed out and dumped her. Bristol honey, been there done that. It sucks, but you're better off. Call me. We'll talk. Then file for custody and child support before he flakes any further.
Also on the Bristol Palin front is... Mommy dearest? You released a statement about this through your PAC? Really? Do you even know how that looks? It looks like you're getting bold about exploiting your daughter's heartache for your own political ambition. For that? Fuck you. It's bad enough you give all working mother's a bad name, you're also are a manipulative bitch to keep dragging your kid into the spotlight.
Unrelated to any of that is Irish Potatoes. You've seen them in the store. Those coconut things rolled in Cinnamon. Ummm, what now? Potatoes are indeed a staple of the Irish diet, along with lamb/mutton and fish. But Ireland is not noted for it's coconuts. I have never gotten where this candy came from. It's just totally bizarre. However on Saint Patty's Day I will treat you all (what all two readers?) to the story of why Irish people plant a potato on March 17th. We're a strange people.
I can not freaking wait for Lost next week. Seriously.

She's back...
Palin claims media sought to destroy her
Oh sweetie. See, no. The media did not have a search and destroy mission when it came to you. You and your family believed that because you were Republicans you were above everything. You thought that all those skeletons that should have disqualified you would not be found. But they were. And they were not buried. No one had to search for these things, they were way out in the open. Half of them came from your own mouth.
Sweetie, next time you want to go around and bitch about how everyone hates Sarah Palin, remember that we don't really hate you (well, OK we do, but it's nothing personal, it's what you represent, that know-nothing evanagelical good old boy brand of politics that ruined everything) , but we do feel very sorry for you. The way we feel sorry for very dumb animals. Like my cat Izzy, who runs into doors and walls and such when she's playing because she can't be bothered to look up. You're like my cat, pretty but stump-dumb.
So please be quiet. You're embarrassing yourself and us. Stop doing interviews, stop dragging your poor kid into the media circus and then bitching about the media. Go back to Alaska, serve out your term, fade away.
I'm begging you.
