i noticed that. pretty much everyone is regarding this as an "honor killing", as if that is somehow different from domestic violence as a whole. sure, he beheaded her, which isn't exactly standard for Westerners, but it still boils down to the same thing.
I think it's an easy way of distancing themselves from the fact that this happens everywhere. We tend to keep domestic violence locked away until it comes out like this.
